First Amendment

CNN.com has an article about a study conducted of high school students in America. I believe I participated in this study (or else one very similar to it). The results are quite astounding. I had the inclination that my generation has no regards for basic freedoms, but this, unfortunately, just proves it. The study showed, in summary, that most high school students don’t have a clue about First Ammendment rights.

Jeep

My brother finally got his Jeep back yesterday. He still can’t start it because there is ice in the engine block, but that’s not the best part. When he opened up his hood he found that a muskrat had built a nest in his engine while it was still in the water. The muskrat chewed through a good portion of his wiring and various other parts of his engine that need to be replaced. He also had a nest loged between the tire and the body of the Jeep. That one didn’t have any lasting damage though. He’s got some work ahead of him, but I think he learned his lesson.

Beliefs

I am a Christian. I have been for five years, but I try not to flaunt it. I will discuss it if the oportunity arises, but otherwise I generally don’t force it on anybody. This means that this blog will be a clean blog, but not all the blogs on my blogroll are. I don’t think that any of them share identical beliefs, but some are closer than others. This is just a general warning to ensure that nobody gets offended. Thank you for your time.

Internet

Today for US History my teacher had us go to the computer lab to use the internet to look up info about the Civil War and slavery. She said that if it worked out she would have us do this once a week. The idea was pretty good, but poorly executed. My history teacher is a very ordered person, which doesn’t work to good when trying to use the internet for teaching. She can do alot better with some work, and I don’t blame her for not doing too good on her first try. I’m going to talk to her tomorrow about it and see if I can give her a few pointers (she already said she wanted us to tell her any ways we think she can improve it).

Water

The plumber fixed our pipes today. I guess that means no more indoor snowball fights, but at least I can get a shower and do some laundry.

I turned in my essay today. My teacher probably won’t give us back or grades for another day or two. I’m still planning on writting a varition of the P2P manifesto but I haven’t gotten around to it because I’m lazy.

I really need to clean my room. It’s getting to the point where I can’t see the floor.

I’m listening to a stream of Tipola’s album “Pictures of Science” from magnatune.com. He’s in the “Other” section. His music is very slow and mellow. It tends to make you feel very calm. I’d buy this album if I weren’t broke.

Snowfight!

The water pipes in my house froze this morning. We’ve been melting snow for water because the plumber can only fix our pipes sometime tomorrow. We’ve been having fun with the snow and we just finished having an indoor snowfight. There’s snow everywhere but nobody really cares. My brother got the worst of it. His girlfriend and I made two huge snow balls and chased him around the house until he tried to find refuge in our utility closet. We got him to come out and then pumelled him. It was alot of fun.

Now I gotta write an essay on difficulties. We were assigned the essay Tuesday, but I put it off. Now its due tomorrow. Thankfully though I already thought out what I want to say in the essay so all I have to do is type it out. If it’s any good I might post it here, which is now my official blog.

Jeep update

We can’t get the Jeep out today because the water level went up instead of down like we had hoped. I did get a picture. I might have taken more but the memory stick was full.

Flooding story

We’ve been having some really bad rain around where I live. Alot of local roads are closed because of it. My brother was driving down one of those roads when he came to the road block. He thought his Jeep had enough ground clearance to get through. He went around the barracade got through part of it, realized that it only got worse, so he turned back. Then the engine died. So now his Jeep is stuck in about two and a half feet of water. When I was last there a small crowd of locals had gathered to take pictures. We’re going to get the car out tomorrow. (This may not sound as funny without seeing it, I’ll post pictures tomorrow)

MuVo and other stuff

I got a Creative MuVo the other day. It’s a 256MB model with built in mic and FM radio. I had some money left on a gift card I got for Christmas so I only ended up paying just under $30 for it. I love the MuVo. It’s a simple, easy design, and great for listening to podcasts.

Speaking of podcasting I’m considering starting the Podcast of a crazy man, but I’m not sure yet if I want to.

I’m also considering moving the blog over to its own domain and switching to WordPress. If any of my readers know of a cheap web host that can run WordPress let me know.

Internet back

I haven’t been online since Tuesday because bad weather caused my cable to go out, but it’s back now. I’m just thankful that I didn’t also lose power which happened to several people who live only a few miles from me.

A while ago I said I was going to write an essay on government, but I have descided not to. While talking to some of my friends about the essay I relized that my ideas were wrong. I have another essay in the works, but I make no promises this time.
