I’m not dead

Yes, I’m alive. No, I haven’t forgotten about you. Yes, this is the longest I’ve gone between posts since starting Blog of a crazy man.

Alot has happened since I posted last. I don’t think I can sumerize it all, but I’ll try.

I made it to Florida just fine. I got lost in Chicago (My flight took me from Columbus, to Chicago, to Cincinati, to Pensacola. Retarded, I know.), but I made it to my flight on time. I’ve been helping my brother clean up the damage to his property from Dennis, but we haven’t been able to fix the hole in his roof because the insurance adjuster hasn’t been here yet.

We have also been doing occasional work for his friends, mostly landscaping, but we also started doing some roofing for his friend yesterday. We were going to finish the roofing today, but it rained so we couldn’t do it.

All this work has done two good things for me. I have a tan, and, for the first time in my life, I can feel my pectoral muscles.

He had power back before I got here, but I had to fix his computer which is why I haven’t been able to post. Normally fixing a computer wouldn’t take that long, but I had to install a CD burner to back up some of his files before I reformatted his hard drive to get rid of the virus, unfortunately the driver for the CD burner conflicted with the virus keeping me from booting his hard drive. I had an Ubuntu live CD which I was going to use as a fail-safe, but he didn’t have enough memory to load it. So I had to have my other brother mail me my spare hard drive to boot the computer with and backup the files. That all said and done his computer is running nicely now.

My brother also happenes to be an environmentalist health-nut, which has definitly made things interesting. I now know why you shouldn’t use chemical fertilizer, what’s wrong with genetically modified crops, and why Coke is bad for you. It may seem obvious that Coke is bad for you, but I mean really bad for you, just look at the ingredients list.

Okay, that’s all for now. I’ll be back home on August 24th. I’ll try to keep you updated until then.

Florida bound

Tomorrow morning around 3 A.M. (EST) I’ll be heading off to Florida. I’m going to stay with my brother in Pensacola, and help him fix the damage from Dennis. He probably still won’t have power, so I won’t be able to make alot of posts, but you can be sure that I’ll post as soon as I can.

Have fun in my absence. Of course check the blogs in my blogroll for stuff to read while I’m not posting.

Times reporter jailed

Judith Miller, a reporter for the New York Times, has been jailed for refusing to reveal her source. She will be in jail for 4 months or until she agrees to reveal her source.

Some of my readers may remeber a while back when I argued against journalists being allowed to keep their sources secret, but I have since learned more on the subject and have changed my mind. I fully support Ms. Miller in her fight for the free flow of information.

Back again

I’ve been grounded since Monday and haven’t been able to get online, but I’m back now.

I got 22 new emails, 12 spam mails, and lot of things to sort out. But I’m glad to be back.
